Krishna is a major deity in Hinduism. He is worshiped as the eighth avatar of the god Vishnu and also by some as the supreme God in his own right
Krishna was fond of makhan (butter) in the childhood. He and his cowherd friends used to steal makhan from the pots of Gopikas (cowherd girls). He used to offer the butter to his friends who were poor and couldn't have butter. Looking at Krishna's mischief, the Gopikas went to Yashoda and complained about her son's doings.
The Gopikas, however, considered them fortunate of seeing this little Krishna's play (Leela).
