In the starting annotation while describing the greatness of
Gangaji, it is said that in the Indian culture,
Ganga Maiya is very famous. If in the past, Shankaracharya praised
Gangaji then in modern times Jawaharlal Nehru has praised
Gangaji.
In the medieval period, Badshah Akbar always respected
Ganga to the extent that wherever he went; water of
Ganga. was carried on to Camels and reached him. After describing the greatness of
Ganga, Maharshi Ved Vyas tells his disciples the story of the birth of
Ganga
Brahmaji got the order from supreme self to create the world.
Brahmaji asked Adi Mata for help to create the world. Pleased with him, Adi Mata gifted him a part of her in the form of seven energies.
The seven energies are-
Gayatri,
Saraswati,
Lakshmi,
Uma,
Shakti, Tapasvini and
Ganga. Of these
Ganga is the most powerful energy is Devi
Ganga.
Brahmaji attained
Ganga in the form of water in his Kamandalu (a spout for keeping water).
Then all the devtas along with Devraj
Indra asked
Brahmaji to let
Ganga flow in the heaven.
Brahmaji let one stream of
Ganga flow in heaven. As
Ganga reached heaven, the devtas praised her and welcomed her warmly.
